College Basketball Is In The Twilight Zone

​What is going on with all the blue blood schools in college basketball? Could they all suck this year because of covid? Maybe? Could it be because their coaches suck this year? Maybe? Wait, did I really just say coach K, sucks? I did but clearly that isn't the case. Could it be that other teams are just simply better? Possibly? Or is it that these teams just all happen to have a bad year all at the same time? Possibly but very unlikely. Is it that their recruiting class this past year was just that bad? Ehh, probably not. So what is it? What is the reason all of these blue blood schools suck this year?
 
Honestly, it could be a number of these things as covid has impacted how colleges went about beginning their seasons, like the limited number of scrimmages and practices in the beginning of the season. Another thing that comes out of this year is how the one and done players have put a lot on incoming freshmen to put up big numbers each and every night without much preparation going into the season.
 
It could also be due to these athletes wanting to break tradition. As we have seen in the US the past few years, things have started to break tradition and people want to start something new. Maybe this is a beginning of something in college basketball that is here to stay and new schools and programs will recruit top athletes and push schools like Duke, Kentucky, and North Carolina to the side.
 
To be honest, there is a lot going on right now in the United States, no matter what side you stand on, we are living in times that have not been seen. With that being said, this also has an impact on sports like we have seen with the NBA and the BLM protests and logos and the jerseys that the NBA players were wearing. This could possibly be a trickle down effect to college basketball and as a young player, it could have a big effect on how they are playing. They don't have professional mentors that are helping them in these tough times like these NBA does with these young players being drafted.
 
No matter what the case may be for these blue blood schools and their performances this year, it is definitely something to keep an eye on moving forward with all of the society changes and how covid is going to be handled in the future.
